MOD Alliance 5th Webinar: Mapping Blue Carbon in European Seagrass Beds

Hoted by MARCO-BOLO, the 5th Webinar of the MOD Alliance series will be avout Mapping Blue Carbon in European Seagrass Beds, using remote sensing, oceanographic data & the new EURO-CARBON database. Presented by Natalya Gallo (NORCE).

The projects in the MOD Alliance are funded under the same call topic (HORIZON-CL6-2022-BIODIV-01-01) with a shared focus on “Observing and mapping biodiversity and ecosystems, with a particular focus on coastal and marine ecosystems“.

Digital Ocean Forum #4

The fourth edition of the Digital Ocean Forum will take place on 27-28 November in Brussels (Belgium). At this landmark event, ocean scientists, modellers, researchers, innovators and policymakers will come together once again to take stock of recent developments and explore new opportunities towards the co-construction of the European Digital Twin Ocean.

Attendees will be invited to learn the latest about EDITO, the public infrastructure of the European Digital Twin Ocean, powered by EMODnet and Copernicus Marine Service.

The Royal Society – Marine biology loss, fishing, and climate change

The twin crises of biodiversity loss and rapid climate change are often considered as inextricably linked, a perspective largely developed based on terrestrial systems. In the ocean this linkage has been largely overlooked and this meeting will address this gap to recognise the role of ocean biodiversity loss in regulating climate and delivering food security.

World Biodiversity Forum 2026

Under the theme of Leading Transformation Together, the fourth edition of the World Biodiversity Forum WBF will take place from Sunday, 14 June to Friday, 19 June 2026 in Davos, Switzerland.

Bending the curve of biodiversity loss, and addressing the interconnected planetary crises that negatively impact planetary health and social justice requires the development of actionable solutions based on the best available knowledge, jointly across sectors and generations.

ECSA 61 Bridging the gap between science and policy in estuarine and coastal marine biodiversity: the way forward

Participate in ECSA 61 and contribute your recent findings in all aspects of coastal and estuarine sciences. Building on the results of several Horizon Europe projects it is a unique opportunity to show the most recent advances of coastal marine research and their applications for European and international policies.

For this purpose, ECSA 61 brings together a global multi-disciplinary community of researchers and professionals.

For the first time ECSA invites you for a ‘Science-meets-Policy’ day (24 August 2026), during which you have the chance to discuss research findings and applications for a sustainable future of coasts with managers and decision-makers from Europe and all over the world, and the ways in which these can be used in current monitoring and assessment policies.

7th World Conference on Marine Biodiversity

The 7th edition of the World Conference on Marine Biodiversity will be organized in Bruges between November 17th and 20th 2026. Find out more about the venue here.

The WCMB 2026 will fly the UN Ocean Decade flag, as it has been endorsed as a UN Ocean Decade Event. The overall theme of the Conference is “The marine biodiversity insights we need, for the ocean we want”. As the Conference will take place a little over halfway through the UN Ocean Decade, it will provide an excellent opportunity to take stock of ongoing actions and initiatives, but also evaluate what still needs to be tackled by the end of the Decade.
