ABOUT

The Flanders Marine Institute promotes marine knowledge creation and excellence through sound interdisciplinary research about the ocean, seas, coast and tidal estuaries. We do this in close collaboration with other (marine) research groups, citizens, policy makers and industrial partners in Flanders, Belgium, and through international collaboration.

ROLE IN PROJECT

VLIZ is building data flows towards regional and international long-term archives and contributing to endorsed Essential Variable (EV) data delivery (WP1). Validating Environmental DNA (eDNA)-based data and definition of eDNA based EVs for biomonitoring of planktonic communities (WP2); meta-analysis of biodiversity observation (WP3) and design and testing of multi-purpose biodiversity sensors (WP4); analytical workflows for trend assessment, ecosystem health indicators and invasive species (WP5) as well as communication and dissemination activities (WP7).
