PRO-Coast project (for a PROactive approach for COmmunities to enAble Societal Transformation), started in November 2023, is a 3 years HORIZON-funded project. It is using social science to study how coastal communities and civil society across Europe can best be motivated and empowered to restore and maintain biodiversity and ecosystem services. The project is composed of 20 partners across 14 countries, bringing together social scientists, ecologists and technical experts with a wide set of skills. They work in 9 case studies to discover how local people would like to restore a variety of coastal ecosystems.
