WORK PACKAGE 5: Modelling and Mapping Coastal and Marine Biodiversity
Work package 5 aims to set up real world demonstrations and analytical use cases that support a better understanding of marine biodiversity decline and ecosystem health.
Work Package Objectives
01
01
Demonstrate the creation of new knowledge in biodiversity trends and the direct drivers along with their interrelationships, through innovative tools and models.
02
02
Document the potential of new and advanced observation approaches and technologies for the improvement of established biological indicators and blue carbon mapping.
03
03
Provide evidence-based knowledge in support of the non-indigenous invasive species management, deriving from the combined implementation of advanced and multi-disciplinary approaches.
04
04
Provide the relevant users, including the scientific community and the decision makers, with the proper VRE and integrated workflows to ensure reproducibility and transparency of the analytical process.
The WP5 partners were working hard on developing a workflow habitat suitability model as part of the first of multiple Use Cases.
The WP5 partners have been working on a data management algorithm to transform input data from different sources into usable data.
The workflow habitat suitability model will be cleaned and tested until it can be released online during the year.
The WP5 partners will implement more modelling workflows in 2025 (such as ecological models or time series to see trends and changes across different species).
All the scripts that are ready to use will be found in the virtual research environment (VRE).
