B-USEFUL is a four-year EU-funded project (Oct 2022 – Sep 2026) aiming to develop user-oriented tools and solutions to monitor, assess and protect marine biodiversity. Specifically, it aims to improve existing European data infrastructures and governance frameworks. To do so, it first identifies end-user needs and works with experts to co-develop biodiversity indicators, targets and scenarios. The project also carries out model forecasts of changes in biodiversity and ecosystem services. The support tools assist end users in prioritising conservation efforts in biodiversity hotspots, or other high-risk areas requiring a stricter degree of protection.
