DiverSea started in September 2023 and focuses on pioneering marine observation and monitoring technology. The project integrates innovative DNA-based identification methods for enhanced genetic diversity documentation, encompassing environmental samples and monitoring key biological parameters. Additionally, DiverSea employs emerging molecular techniques, autonomous systems, satellite remote sensing, and an AI-ML architecture for comprehensive mapping of marine habitats. The analysis module combines Essential Ocean Variables (EOVs) and Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs) to predict spatial and temporal biodiversity, addressing urgent data needs and exploring causal links between cycles, stressors, biodiversity dynamics, and biogeochemical cycles. The project culminates in an interactive Biodiversity Services Dashboard, facilitating communication of scientific outcomes to policymakers, stakeholders, and the public, evaluating diverse policy alternatives.
